As you all know, Friday 18th March was Red Nose Day, and as such, the team at ECOM decided to dedicate some time on Friday afternoon to fundraising for the worthwhile cause.
We started off with an “Interesting Fact” competition, whereby members of the office would discreetly submit a bizarre fact about themselves which others wouldn’t know, and the others members would have to match facts with the member of the office they believed it sounds most like!
Among the revelations were that one member of the Technical team had 3 kidneys (seriously), an unsuspecting member of Creative was in fact a church bell ringer, and a member of Client Services has a cousin who plays for the All Blacks!
The more social members boasted about their contacts, with a member of the Marketing team having dated the daughter of Mike Rutherford (Genesis); a member of Technical having had his face next to Prince Harry’s behind (rugby match, or so he says) and a PM/IA team member having to explain what an IA was to a 200 strong audience at Michael McIntyre.
It was nevertheless an interesting exercise which exposed our MD’s as childhood Olympic hopefuls; in table tennis and gymnastics.
Secondly was the baby photo contest. Employees sent photos of themselves when they were younger to a central member who distributed the list, and you had to guess who was who. This was a controversial exercise with a lot of “conferring” between individuals going on, and some guesses being horrendously off mark (guessing a female for a male baby the most common!).
Take a look at the some of the pictures below, and put answers on a postcard.
We finished up with a team quiz. This one really tested the grey matter, with questions such as “How long, to the nearest year, had Ashley and Cheryl Cole been married?”, and the winner of the ’82 European Cup, from a not-so-obvious, clearly biased, Midland quiz master. The GK round also proved to stump most, with the resounding “What does GK stand for?” being the first hurdle. In the end, the team who most discreetly used Google on their iPhone's ran away with the victory in a hotly contested 4 rounds.
ECOM helped raise money for a great cause and had a bit of fun at the same time, and a big thanks to our MD’s who made this possible, with their generous contributions, supply of food and drink and sparing some time to go ahead with it.
